My Hurricane Kiddie Kit

Every Hurricane Buster Kid should know how to pack a Super Hurricane Kiddie Kit.

When a hurricane strikes you may be left without electricity or running water, and if there is heavy flooding you may be trapped indoors for days. Your Super Hurricane Kiddie Kit will help make it easier for you to survive during a hurricane. You can help out at home by reminding your parents to get some of the things for the Kit in case they forget.

Here are some of the things that you should remind your parents to pack:

  • Flashlight

  • Small battery powered radio

  • Lots of extra batteries

  • First aid kit with mosquito repellent

  • Canned food and juices

  • Water

Sometimes, if a hurricane is really bad you may have to leave your home.

Here are a few things that you can pack for yourself to help keep you happy and comfortable while you are away from home:

  • Favourite toy, colouring book or story book

  • Pencils or crayons and paper

  • Blanket

  • Family photo & pet photo if you have pets

  • Contact book with names, addresses and telephone numbers of your parents and important family members in case you get separated from them during the hurricane. Keep this in a waterproof package.
